'India's technological feat are new avenues of cooperation'

Moscow, Nov 13 (PTI) India's technological feat has
opened new avenues of cooperation with Russia which is poised
for radical modernisation, Russian Deputy Premier Sergei
Sobyanin has said.
Sobyanin, a heavyweight in the Russian government
bureaucracy, was recently on a four-day trip to India to boost
bilateral cooperation in trade, economic, cultural, scientific
and technical spheres.
Appointed as co-chairman of the inter-governmental
commission on trade, economic, scientific, technological and
cultural cooperation (IRIGC) last month, Sobyanin has been
assigned to address Moscow's concern at the lack of progress
in bilateral economic ties with India, in spite of 'highest
degree' of political trust between the two nations.
"India could make a major breakthrough in the most
advanced sector of the modern technologies. This, in
principle, opens new venues for our mutually beneficial
cooperation," Sobyanin reportedly said after visiting Infosys
headquarters in Bangalore at the end of his India tour.
Sobyanin called on Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and
held parleys with IRIGC co-chairman, External Affairs Minister
S M Krishna, Commerce and Industry Minister Anand Sharma and
Petroleum Minister Murli Deora during his India tour.
He also visited Kudankulam in Tamil Nadu, where Russia
is building two 1000 MWe nuclear power reactors and talks are
on to build four more units. MORE PTI VS
