Jayapura, Nov 14 (ANTARA) - The Papua International Biodiversity Conference (IBC) from November 11 to 14 which was closed by Papua Governor Barnabas Suebu on Saturday has produced six important recommendations.
The recommendations include implementing biodiversity conservation and sustainable development efforts in Papua and striving to make Papua in seven years' time a leader in carbon conservation done through conservation programs for unique eco-systems in Papua, organizing committee chairman Noak Kapisa Msc said at the conference on Saturday.
Noak said all of the recommendations would be used as inputs and submitted to the international conference in Copenhagen next month.
Governor Barnabas Suebu meanwhile in his closing address expressed appreciation to all the participants especially the international representatives that had given inputs as a form of their care for the success of programs linked to biodiversity conservation and sustainable development.
The governor said the provincial government of Papua would commit itself to the implementation of the recommendations as its appreciation to the conference.
The conference on biodiversity and sustainable development was the first held by the provincial administrations of Papua and West Papua in cooperation with the World Wild Fund and International Conservation.
"The activity will be done annually as a form of care on biodiversity which is linked to sustainable development for the people of Papua," he said.
Barnabas said all the results of the working forums would be reported as an evaluation to the 2nd international conference on biodiversity and sustainable development in Papua in 2011.
