ROTATING POWER CUTS YET TO HAMPER INVESTMENT

Solo, C Java, Indonesia, Nov 14 (ANTARA) - Rotating power cuts in a number of big cities in the country are not yet hampering investment, a capital investment official said.

"Investors are convinced that the rolling blackouts in a number of big cities in Indonesia will soon be overcome," Suhardi, director for business empowerment at the Capital Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM), said here on Saturday.

He said investors would not move to other countries only because of the alternating power outages.

"President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono's threat to remove ranking power company (PLN) officials if they fail to overcome electricity problems in the first 100 days of his government was one of the factors that have convinced investors," Suhardi said.

Therefore, BPKP hoped that the power outages would soon be solved so that investors would not lose confidence in Indonesia.***
