YUDHOYONO, ABHISIT TO HOLD BILATERAL TALKS
Singapore, Nov 15 (ANTARA) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono is scheduled to hold talks with Thai Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva on the sidelines of the 17th Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit here on Sunday.
The meeting to take place at Marina Mandarin Hotel will last for 30 minutes starting 09.00 a.m. However, the agenda of the meeting between the two ASEAN leaders are still unclear.
Also on Sunday, Yudhoyono is slated to meet with Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen.
It is believed that the issue of border dispute between Thailand and Cambodia will be high on the agenda of Yudhoyono's meetings with Abhisit and Hun Sen.
Earlier, presidential spokesman Dino Patti Djalal said Foreign Minister Marty Natalegawa had held a meeting with his Thai counterpart, Kasit Piromya.
"We hope the tensions could be resolved amicably," he said.
Tensions have been running high between Thailand and Cambodia following a series of clashes on disputed land around the 11th-century Preah Vihear temple on their shared border.
The two countries recalled their ambassadors recently as the row was escalating. Thailand also suspended all talks and cooperation programmes and tore up an oil and gas exploration deal signed during former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra was in power.
