YEMEN TO PARTAKE IN 36TH SESSION OF FAO IN ROME
SANA'A, Nov.15 (Saba) - A Yemeni delegation led by Minister of Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation Mansour al-Hawshabi is to partake in the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO)'s 36th session to be held in the Italian capital, Rome, during November 18-23.
In a statement to Saba upon leaving Sana'a, al-Hawshabi said that the session will discuss many reports on the agricultural policies and statistics and the rural development and the concerned fields like forests and climate changes.
The session will deal with the organization's strategic frame during 2010-2019 and its agenda and budget during 2010-2011 as well as the independent external report on the immediate work plan for developing the organization work, al-Hawshabi added.
Al-Hawshabi noted that before the session he will join the Yemeni delegation headed by Chairman of the Shura Council Abdul Aziz Abdul Ghani to participate in the High-Level Conference on World Food Security to be held in Rome during November 16-18.
The conference will discuss many issues and challenges facing the world due to climate changes, food prices ascending, and lack of investment in agricultural sector as well as the migration that causes widening the food gap in the world and increasing the number of starving in the world, al-Hawshabi pointed out.
Through this conference, FAO seeks to gather the global efforts to increase food production and international aid to face the challenges of food lack and raise investment in the agricultural sector in order to narrow the food gap in the world.
