ORANGUTAN SOLIDARITY EVENT TO BE HELD IN JAKARTA
Jakarta, Nov 17 (ANTARA) - The meeting on Solidarity with Orangutans was held in Jakarta on Tuesday to persuade people for their support and concrete action.
According to a press release from the Orangutan Republic Education Initiative Indonesia (OUREI Indonesia) on Tuesday, the meeting was held in conjunction with the "Orangutan Solidarity Week".
The annual international event was held in Jakarta on November 8-14, 2009, the event was aimed to arouse the people`s awareness on Orangutan issues which is related to the condition of our tropical rain forests as their natural habitat.
Indonesian tropical rain forests played an important role for many species` viability and the human race on earth.
Meanwhile, the sympathetic event as the Orangutan solidarity week`s main event would be held in Jakarta by hundreds of pro-environment volunteers at the Hotel Indonesia traffic circle in Central Jakarta Tuesday.
The volunteers would be reading a Green Declaration and giving free tree seeds and ask the people to save the earth by planting trees.
The event, was also held in support of the Indonesian government to reduce carbon gas emissions by preserving the Indonesian tropical rain forests which will be taken up in the 15th Climate change Conference in Copenhagen, Denmark, in December 2009.
