Hyundai Motor develops new engine for Sonata sedan

SEOUL, Nov. 17 (Yonhap) -- Hyundai Motor Co., South Korea's largest automaker, said Tuesday it has developed a new version of its four-cylinder automobile engine.

The 2.4-liter Theta gasoline direct injection engine will be mounted in Hyundai's
revamped Sonata sedan next year, the carmaker said in a statement.
Hyundai spent 170 billion won (US$147.4 million) and 46 months to develop the new
engine, which can as much as produce 201 horsepower at its peak, according to the
statement.
