Guj police team in Chhattisgarh to probe E-mail threat
Ahmedabad, Nov 17 (PTI) The city crime branch has sent
a team to India's central state of Chhattisgarh after it was
revealed that an E-mail, threatening to blow up the visiting
Sri Lankan cricket team, received by a security agency here
was sent from Janjdirchampa district of that state.
"One Ashok Karsh had written the threat E-mail in the
name of Rajesh Karsh who is his brother-in-law as there was
some personal animosity between the two," Assistant
Commissioner of Police, and head of the cybercrime team, Usha
Rada told PTI.
"The Chhattisgarh police has filed a complaint against
Ashok and are investigating the matter," she said.
This information was revealed during the interrogation
of the cybercafe owner Sukhiram Sahu, in Janjdirchampa
district from where the E-mail was sent.
A team from Gujarat police has gone to question Sahu and
assess his cybercafe records, she said.
The E-mail, sent a couple of days ago, said that Sri
Lankan cricket team would be blown up on November 16, the
first day of their Test against India at Sardar Patel stadium,
Motera, here in Ahmedabad (in India's western state of
Gujarat).
Meanwhile security was further tightened for the ongoing
Test match following the threat. PTI PB
