RF president's visit to promote stronger relations--PM.

STOCKHOLM, November 18 (Itar-Tass) - Swedish Prime Minister Fredrik
Reinfeldt, speaking in the run-up to the Russia-European Union (EU) summit and bilateral talks, has told Itar-Tass in an exclusive interview that he hopes that the forthcoming meeting with President Dmitry Medvedev of the Russian Federation (RF) will lay the foundations for stronger relations between the two countries.

"I hope that our meeting will lay the foundations of stronger and good
relations between Sweden and Russia," the Premier said.
In response to a question as to whether he is prepared to press the
"reset" button in the two countries' dialogue which is progressing but not
without problems, Reinfeldt said: "Yes, I am. With pleasure. We would like
good relations with Russia. We see that, for example, trade has gained in
scope considerably. I spoke to many Swedish businessmen who would like to
get to or increase their presence in Russia. However, in this respect,
there arise such matters as predictability, relationships with agencies,
and concern that they will be in for not quite good initial conditions.
This is present as a factor. We hope that bilateral cooperation will grow
stronger in other fields as well, and we hope for more reliable relations
between the European Union and Russia".
Reinfeldt's opinion is that growing trade and tourism are now the most
promising areas in bilateral contacts. "This is the basis for mutual
understanding and a rise in goods exchanges. An increasing number of
Russian tourists travel to Sweden and this can be only welcomed".
The economic component of relations, in Reinfeldt's view, develops
successfully but it could be more considerable in scope and differentiated
in pattern. Division into a Russian supplier of raw materials (feedstock
and fuel account for 83.5 percent of Russian export) and a Swedish
supplier of services and high technologies (with finished goods accounting
for 84 percent of Swedish export, including ground transport, electrical
engineering and hi-tech equipment accounting for 73 percent) still
persists in reciprocal trade.
The implementation of projects in the fields of automobile
manufacture, space research, nano-scale technologies, forestry, timber
processing, energy, transport, construction, and the development of oil
deposits can be mentioned as positive examples of bilateral cooperation.
