Seoul shares start higher on Wall Street gains

SEOUL, Nov. 18 (Yonhap) -- South Korean stocks got off to a strong start
Wednesday as investor sentiment was lifted by overnight gains in the U.S.,
analysts said.
The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) added 20.96 points, or
1.32 percent, to 1,606.94 in the first 15 minutes of trading.
U.S. shares closed higher Tuesday on higher commodity prices, with the Dow Jones
industrial average rising 0.29 percent and the tech-laden Nasdaq Composite index
advancing 0.27 percent.
The local currency was trading at 1,151.9 won to the greenback as of 9:15 a.m.,
up 2.2 won from Tuesday's close.
