LIG Insurance's Chinese unit begins operations

SEOUL, Nov. 19 (Yonhap) -- LIG Insurance Co., a South Korean non-life insurer,
said Thursday its wholly owned unit in Nanjing, China, has begun operations, with
next year's sales target set at 42 million yuan (US$6.2 million).

The insurance company said its Chinese unit with paid-in capital of 200 million
yuan started operations almost three years after submitting an application for
regulatory approval.
The insurer said it will focus on selling insurance policies to Korean companies
operating there and plans to expand its business scope into sectors tailored for
Chinese, such as auto insurance.
