Hynix's new memory chips receive Intel validation

SEOUL, Nov. 20 (Yonhap) -- Hynix Semiconductor Inc., the world's second largest chip maker, said Friday its new memory chips have won validation from U.S. chip giant Intel Corp.

Hynix said its two-gigabit DDR3 DRAM chips based on the 40-nanometer class
technology have been validated under the Intel validation program to offer
manufacturers of finished products more performance memory options.
DDR3 DRAM is a random access memory technology used for high bandwidth storage of
working data on a computer or other digital electronic devices.
Starting this month, Hynix began to massproduce the new power-efficient memory
chips using 44-nanometer technology, which reduces power consumption by 40
percent and increases productivity by 60 percent compared to the 50-nanometer
class technology.
