BULGARIA EAGER TO STEP UP ECONOMIC COOPERATION WITH INDONESIA

Mataram, W Nusa Tenggara, Nov 19 (ANTARA) - Bulgaria is trying to enhance economic cooperation with Indonesia after the two countries` successful cooperation in the political field, a Bulgarian official said.

"We will enhance economic cooperation with Indonesia, particularly in the industrial and agricultural fields," Bulgarian Senior Deputy Foreign Minister Marin Raykanov said after an Indonesia-Bulgaria bilateral consultation meeting at Senggigi in West Lombok district, West Nusa Tenggara province, on Thursday.

Raykanov, the head of the Bulgarian delegation to the meeting, said as part of cooperation in the industrial field, Bulgaria wanted to buy coal from East Kalimantan and South Kalimantan provinces.

"We see Indonesian coal is of very good quality and competitively priced," he said.

He said Bulgaria was ready to assist Indonesia in dealing with problems related to coal processing technology to produce high quality coal.

He said his country was also looking forward to opening access to a number of regions in Indonesia for the supply of crude palm oil.

In the agricultural sector, Bulgaria wished to develop coffee plantations in a number of regions in Indonesia, including Sumbawa island, he said.

Director General of American and European Affairs at the Indonesian Foreign Ministry Retno L.P. Marsudi meanwhile said the two countries planned to intensify cooperation in the agricultural sector after they made success in their political cooperation.

Bulgaria wanted to market oriental tobacco and sheep meat in Indonesia, while the latter wished to export agricultural commodities of high quality such as tea, coffee, cacao and spices to the European country, Retno said. ***2***
