INDONESIAN WARSHIP RETURNS FROM SERVICE IN UNIFIL

Jakarta, Nov 19 (ANTARA) - An Indonesian warhisp, KRI Diponegoro-365, arrived back in the country on Thursday after completing a six-month stint of service in the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL).

KRI Diponegoro arrived at the pier of the Military Sea-Transportation Command in Jakarta where it was welcomed by Navy Commodore Marsetio.

The Sigma-class corvette had done six months of surveillance duties in Lebanese waters as part of the Maritime Task Force-UNIFIL.

The UN had actually requested the extension of the KRI Diponegoro-365`s service in UNIFIL by another six months but it was agreed the warship had to return home first while the Indonesian government would consider the world organization`s request.
