Seoul shares open lower on Wall Street drops

SEOUL, Nov. 20 (Yonhap) -- South Korean stocks started lower Friday as investor sentiment was dented by overnight falls on Wall Street, analysts said.

The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) fell 1.66 points, or 0.1
percent, to 1,618.88 in the first 15 minutes of trading.
The U.S. markets closed lower on Thursday as a brokerage downgraded its outlook
for the semiconductor industry. The Dow Jones industrial average dropped 0.9
percent and the tech-laden Nasdaq composite index sank 1.66 percent.
The local currency was trading at 1,160.1 won to the greenback as of 9:15 a.m.,
down 3 won from Thursday's close.
