Dalai hopes PM will raise Tibet in US in whatever way possible
New Delhi, Nov 21 (PTI) Tibetan spiritual leader, the
Dalai Lama, on Saturday said he understood India had
"limitations" on the issue of Tibet and hoped Prime Minister
of India Manmohan Singh will take it up in whatever way
possible during his visit to the US.
He said Singh is a "clean and honest" politician and he
has "no worries".
"I am sure whatever the prime minister can appeal to
Obama, he will do," the Dalai Lama said when asked what
message did he want Singh to take to US President Barack Obama
on his behalf.
"I have no worries. There should be a realistic approach.
I understand India and the US have limitations," he said at
the launch of a facility at Max Hospital.
Singh left for the US on Saturday for a four-day visit as
the first state guest of Obama.
The Dalai Lama also said Obama had taken up the issue of
Tibet with Chinese President Hu Jintao on his recent visit to
China both "publicly as well as behind the scenes". PTI WAJ
