Flu epidemic in Russian regions subsides - minister.

MOSCOW, November 22 (Itar-Tass) - The flu and acute viral infections
rate is still exceeding the epidemic threshold in almost all Russian
regions, but in some of them the epidemic is subsiding, Russian Minister
for Public Health and Social Development Tatyana Golikova told the
Saturday news program of Rossiya television.
"The epidemic threshold is at the present moment exceeded in
practically all Russian regions, although inside the regions there are
cities where the epidemic threshold has not been exceed. For example, Tver
in the Tver region, Rostov-on-Don in the Rostov region and so on," she
said.
Nevertheless, the epidemic is subsiding in those Russian regions where
it began much earlier, the minister said. "This can be applied to the
Baikal region, and we can already say it about Moscow, which is now
demonstrating a decline in sickness rate," Golikova noted.
According to her, such measures as the extension of school holidays
and additional quarantines in kindergartens have proved correct.
