4 killed, 20 injured in twin blasts in Assam

Nalbari (Assam), Nov 22 (PTI) Four persons were killed
and 20 others injured when suspected United Liberation Front
of Assam (ULFA) militants triggered two blasts close to a
police station here in India's northeastern state of Assam
Sunday.

Three persons were injured when a bomb, planted in a
bicycle, went off at a spot adjacent to the police station at
around 9:30 am (IST), Superintendent of Police Jitmol Doley
told PTI.
Four persons were killed in the similar blast which
occurred minutes after in front of a mobile phone shop,
about 20 metres away from the police station, as people were
trying to flee from the area, he said.
At least 17 others were injured in the second blast and
taken to the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital, over 100 km
from here.
Vehicles parked in the busy and crowded area were damaged
due to the impact of the blasts.
The areas where the blasts took place have been cordoned
off by the police, which was carrying out a combing operation
in the area.
Prima facie the blasts seemed to be the handiwork of
ULFA, according to police sources. PTI CORR
