N Korea, China discussing strengthening of mil relations.
PYONGYANG, November 23 (Itar-Tass) - Democratic People's Republic of
Korea and China are discussing a further strengthening of bilateral
relations in the military sphere, the country's main daily, Nodon Sinmum
said Monday.
It said Chinese Defense Minister Liang Guanglie, who arrived on an
official visit in Pyongyang Sunday, had talks with the North Korean
Defense Minister Kim Yong Chun on the same day.
Other local media point out "a friendly atmosphere" at the meeting but
they do not mention the problems that the two ministers discussed in the
course of their conversation.
The Chinese minister's visit is a sign of support for the Korean Army
and people, Vice-Marshal Kim Yong Chun said at a reception in honor of the
high-rank Chinese guest.
He indicated that the current trip marks a milestone in the
development of traditional relations between the Chinese and Korean Armed
Forces.
The Chinese minister visited the DPRK the previous time in 2006.
Last week, Pyongyang sent a military delegation to China with General
Kim Jong Gak at the head.
