KADIN: SBY SHOULD MAKE ROAD MAP FOR LEGAL REFORM
Jakarta, Nov. 23 (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN) has called on President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono to make a road map to accelerate legal reform.
"The president should immediately make a road map for legal reform. He should implement reform in the legal field thoroughly for the sake of justice, and the promotion of democracy, political stability, economic development and investment," Ricky Rachmady, head of KADIN's Corporate Governance and Business Ethics section, said here on Monday.
The ongoing rivalry between the National Police and the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) should be used as a momentum to reform the legal system, he said.
And one of the strategic steps that should be taken to implement the legal reform was drafting a clear road map, he added.
Ricky Rachmadi also hoped that the government could deal with the Century Bank case transparently.
President Yudhoyono on Sunday (Nov. 22) before a number of media chiefs expressed his stance of staying away from the legal area and refrain from action beyond his authority. He said that the party which had the right to determine whether or not a person was guilty was a court of law.
"Tomorrow, with a language the people will understand, I will issue a decision and what the state has to do with this case,' the president said.
