PRESIDENT`S STATEMENT SUBJECT TO VARIOUS INTERPRETATIONS
Jakarta, Nov 24 (ANTARA) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono's ruling about suspended Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) deputy chiefs Bibit Samad Riyanto and Chandra Hamzah's legal case lends itself to various interpretations, a politician said.
House of Representatives Deputy Speakers Pramono Anung said here on Tuesday the president's ruling on Monday evening was unclear and could be interpreted in various ways.
"The president delivered his speech with unclear words and made the already transparent issue more obscure and uncertain," Pramono told newsmen at the legislative building here on Monday.
Pramono said the president should have used simple and easy-to-understand words in his speech instead of using complicated words that caused doubts and different perceptions.
According to Pramono, Bibit and Chandra's legal case in the recommendations of the fact finding Team of Eight had already been very clear but the president has made it obscure.
"Frankly speaking, I personally had been waiting for the president to adopt a resolute stance over the case," said Pramono, secretary general of the Indonesian Democratic Party-Struggle (PDI-P).
He also said the President's statements at the State Palace on Monday night was far from what the people had expected.
With the president's statements subject to different interpretations, Pramono said, people's attention would be drowned to what the president would do later about Bibit and Chandra's case.
"It is really wasting people's energy," Pramono said, adding that settling the Bibit and Chandra's case should have been made one of the priorities in the government's first-100-days program. ***
