KPK QUESTIONS FORMER FORESTRY MINISTER
Jakarta, Nov 24 (ANTARA) - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) here on Tuesday questioned former Forestry Minister MS Kaban in relation with alleged bribery in the election of Bank Indonesia senior deputy governor in 2004.
"Pak Kaban meets the KPK summons on Tuesday for questioning in the alleged bribery case," KPK spokesman Johan Budi said on Tuesday.
Johan said the former forestry minister was questioned as a witness and by 1 pm, he was still grilled by KPK investigators.
He said Kaban had for several times been summoned by KPK but he failed to show up for various excuses including the political party affairs that he had to deal with.
But for several times as well Kaban had been questioned in his capacity as a former legislator.
The KPK has named four suspects in the case. They are Dudhie Makmun Murod, Endin Soefihara, and Hamka Yandhu who was then a legislator, and former member of Supreme Audit Board (BPK) Udju Djuhaeri.
In that case the KPK has also questioned a number of House of Representatives members and former legislators, among others Achmad Hafiz Zawawi, TM Nurlif, Baharuddin Aritonang, MS Hidayat and Daniel Tanjung.
The case originated from a report from former House member Agus Condro who admitted to have received a cheque Rp500 million after the election of Bank Indonesia senior deputy governor which was won by Miranda S Goeltom in 2004.
Agus Condro said a number of House members at that time also received the similar cheques.***
