YEMEN, UK DISCUSS SECURITY COOPERATION



SANA'A, Nov. 24 (Saba)-Minister of Interior Muthar al Masri held a
meeting on Tuesday with Commander-in-Chief Fleet of the UK Royal
Navy Admiral Trevor Soar over security coordination between the two
countries.

The minister reviewed efforts exerted by Yemeni authorities in
fighting terrorism and achievements of the Yemeni coastguard in
combating drugs smuggling and piracy.

Anti- terror units of central security have done 183 successful
tasks which resulted in killing a number of al Qaeda leaders and
arresting others, the minister said.

He highlighted role of the security forces in their fighting in
Saada and Harf Sufyan against rebels.

The minister said that Yemen is looking at further security
cooperation with United Kingdom in order to sever security of both
countries.

The UK commander voiced readiness of his country to draw long term
strategy in order to support Yemeni coastguard in combating
terrorism.
