MANDALA TO PROCURE 45 AIRPLANES IN 2014

Semarang, C Java, Nov 25 (ANTARA) - Mandala private airlines is planning to procure 45 airplanes up to 2014 in an effort to increase the frequencies of its flights, Mandala Airlines spokesman Trisia Megawati said.

"At present, we only have 11 airplanes, all of which are Airbus A-319s and A-320s," Megawati said here on Wednesday.

She said that with the 11 airlines, Mandala was able to provide 500 thousand seats for passengers on various routes per month.

"In 2007, we placed orders for the purchase of 30 Airbus planes worth US$2.3 billion, and according to plan they will be arriving in stages up to 2012," she said.

After this, she said, Mandala would expand its fleet if market demand increased. "The airplanes are likely not to be purchased but procured through a leasing system," she added.
