Boat seized smuggling Somali arms into Yemen

HODEIDA, Nov. 25 (Saba) - Yemen said on
Tuesday a boat was seized in the western province of Hodeida after the authorities
found
it was smuggling weapons from Somalia into the country.
The latest arms trafficked by the boat reached Yemen last week, coming from the
Somali Hais Bais region, the Interior Ministry said.
The Intelligence authorities were monitoring the movement of the boat since it
originated in the Horn of Africa country carrying an arms shipment over the last
few days.
The coast authorities were alerted about the suspected boat.
A crew of 12 was aboard the boat when it was seized.
The seizure comes as Yemen has recently tightened coastal surveillance in an
attempt to block arms and human trafficking.
