YEMEN SAYS WILL GIVE SOFT LOANS FOR AFFECTED IN NORTH

SANA'A, Nov. 25 (Saba) - Yemen plans to give soft loans for the
people affected by the war between the army and the Houthi rebels in
the far north, the September 26 website reported on Wednesday.

The loan program will be launched early next year.

In this regard, a source at the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs
has said that the move aims to help those affected to launch
yielding businesses to reduce poverty and improve their livelihoods.

Adel Dabwan, director general of the Social Defense at the ministry,
also said that the program will target the families which lost their
income sources in the fighting through enabling them of handicrafts
and agricultural and animal small and medium enterprises just for
the families to protect their social structures and children.

Most of the loans are granted by the Social Insurance Authority and
the Disabled Rehabilitation Fund and would be largely focused on the
children and the disabled, he said.
