Seoul shares start higher on Wall Street gains
SEOUL, Nov. 26 (Yonhap) -- South Korean stocks got off to a strong start Thursday
as investor sentiment was lifted by overnight gains on Wall Street, analysts
said.
The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) added 4.17 points, or
0.26 percent, to 1,616.02 in the first 15 minutes of trading.
U.S. stocks ended on Wednesday at a 13-month high with materials and consumer
discretionary leading the gains. The Dow Jones industrial average rising 0.29
percent and the tech-laden Nasdaq Composite index advancing 0.32 percent.
The local currency was trading at 1,151.1 won to the greenback as of 9:15 a.m.,
up 2.2 won from Wednesday's close.
