GOVT PREPARDING REGULATION AGAINST PORNOGRAPHY

Padang, Nov 27 (ANTARA) - Communications and Information Minister Tiffatul Sembiring said his office intended to produce the draft of a government regulation against pornography in six months.

He made the statement replying a reporter's question on control of distribution of made-in Indonesia pornographic video compact discs.

He said the draft of the regulation on the matter was now still being prepared following the passage of the law on pornography.

So, he said, after the regulation was issued all pornographic sites in the country would be closed.

Regarding internet services to villages, the minister said that a software had been distributed to blacklist or close pornographic sites.

A software had also been distributed to block blasphemy, he added.

The minister said in his sermon at the Eid al-Adha prayers at the governor's office compound, a total of 500 pieces of made-in Indonesia pornographic VCDs had been found being sold in markets recently.

He said what was very concerning was that 70 percent of the actors and actresses in the films were Indonesian junior- and senior-high school students.

This proves that there has been moral degradation, he said.
