Patriarch Kirill to pray for repose of victims of Fri railway crash.
MOSCOW, November 29 (Itar-Tass) - On the first Sunday of the
pre-Christmas fasting period, also known as St Philip's fast, the
Patriarch of Moscow and all Russia Kirill is expected to conduct a divine
liturgy in Moscow's downtown Cathedral of the Savior, in the course of
which he will have a special prayer for the repose of the souls of people
who died Friday in a crash of the Nevsky Express high-speed train.
The disaster that occurred on the Moscow-St Petersburg line at around
22:00 hours Moscow time, presumably due to the explosion of an improvised
bomb with a power equivalent of 7 kg of the TNT, killed 26 people and left
more than 90 others injured.
Patriarch Kirill has issued an address of condolences to the victims'
families.
"I pray for the repose of those who died tragically, for an earliest
possible recovery of all those who were injured, and for the spiritual
consolation of the people who lost their near and dear ones on that
night," his address said.
