MOROTAI TUNA ENTERS ASIAN MARKETS
Ternate, North Maluku, Nov 29 (ANTARA) - North Maluku's tuna from fishermen in the Morotai Island district, is now able to enter the Asian market, such as China and Japan, a local official said.
Head of the Morotai Fishery Service, Ismail, said here on Sunday that the fishermen's fish catch was exported by PT Prima Raya Indo, one of the local companies in the district.
Unfortunately, PT Prima Raya Indo still exported the fishermen's fish through Java Island because no shipping company is exporting the commodity to Asian countries.
He said that the local company was only able to export about 200 tons per annum, while if fact demands from China and Japan reached thousands of tons a year.
PT Prima Raya Indon is also planning to build a local fish processing factory in an effort to increase the value of Morotai fishery products.
