SEOUL, November 30 (Itar-Tass) -- Despite the global economic crisis,
South Korea is expected to occupy in the outgoing year the ninth place in
the world in the volume of its export. The newspaper Chosun Ilbo gives
such data of the Korean Association of International Trade on Monday.
Although, according to the results of ten months of 2009, South Korea'
s export reduced by 20 percent in comparison with the corresponding period
of 2008, its volume over the whole outgoing year will reach 362 billion
years. This is 14 percent less than the index of 2008. The positive
foreign trade balance of South Korea this year is to amount, according to
forecasts, to 40 billion dollars. Good export indices, a reduction of
material expenditures and a fall of the demand for imports in the country
contributed to it.
Since the leading countries of the world are also expected to have a
reduction of exports at the level of 20-30 percent, South Korea, according
to local experts, will outstrip Russia and Canada and occupy the ninth
place in the world.
