ICAL : PEOPLE'S INTEREST GOLKAR'S FIRST PRIORITY

Yogyakarta, Nov 30 (ANTARA) - Golkar Party chairman Aburizal (Ical) Bakrie has said the people's interest should be on top of the party's priorities.

Speaking at a function to open the 8th regional meeting of Golkar here on Monday, Ical said the people's interest should be prioritized because Golkar would not be a major party without full support from the people.

"Golkar should continue to make every possible effort to win the hearts of the people, especially the people from Yogyakarta," the party leader said.

Therefore he added that the parties 8th regional meeting this time in Yogyakarta should be able to produce a working program for people's welfare instead of the party's elites and organizers'.

"Let us make Golkar a political party which is cherished by the people. All ideas and programs should be adjusted with the people's wish and desire in order to make them love the party," Ical said.

Meanwhile, Yogyakarta Governor Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X in his written address said Golkar should be good at understanding and making judgment about every situation in playing its political constellation to move forward to 2014 election.

"The decline in number of ballot gained by Golkar in the 2009 election should be a good lesson for the party in playing its political constellation for 2014 elections," Sri Sultan said.

Golkar's Yogyakarta regional executive board chairman Gandung Pardiman said the agenda of the party's regional conference in Yogyakarat was to elect the managements for 2009-2014 period in addition to Golkar's victory in 2014 election to usher Aburizal Bakrie to presidential throne.

"Therefore I ask all cadres to remain solid and united," Pardiman said, adding that the dynamics in the party's regional conference was something normal but it should be accompanied with the unity and togetherness of the cadres.
