KPK TO EXPOSE BANK CENTURY CASE SOON

Jakarta, Nov 30 (ANTARA) - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) will soon expose the legal case of Bank Century, KPK spokesman Johan Budi said here on Monday.

"KPK team will expose the Bank Century case this week," Johan Budi said, adding that the case would be exposed after KPK leaders studied the audit result from the Supreme Audit Board (BPK).

He said the Corruption Eradication Commission team would expose the case to the public to analyze the KPK and BPK findings.

"The analysis will determine the next step we are going to take," Johan Budi said.

The KPK spokesman explained that the next step he meant would probably include a cooperation with the Financial Transactions Report and Analysis Center (PPATK) to trace the flow of funds from Bank Century.

Besides submitting the audit result to KPK, the BPK has also submitted it to the House of Representatives (DPR).

In relation with Bank Century case, a number of anti corruption observers urged KPK to ask for the result of PPATK investigation.

Coordinator of Indonesia Corruption Watch (ICW) Danang Widoyoko said the BPK had so far made the audit on the request of the House of Representatives.

But in reality, the KPK also asked the BPK to do the same thing. Threfore, Danang said the BPK actually had the right to ask PPATK to trace the funds on the KPK request.

"The KPK should be proactive," Danang said.

Meanwhile, ICW legal observer Febri Diansyah said KPK should respond to the BPK audit result as soon as possible.

"As a law enforcers, KPK should ask for PPATK report to know the flow of funds," Febri said, adding that KPK had the right to ask for PPATK assistance because the two institutions all along had a cooperation.

Febri disagreed if the Bank Century case was managed by the Attorney General's Office or the National Police because the two legal institutions were currently making their internal management in relation with legal mafia.
