FBI team may share details of Headley's association in Mumbai

Mumbai, Nov 30 (PTI) Information on US terror suspect
David Headley's links with several people in the country
including Rahul, son of film maker Mahesh Bhatt, and some
diplomats are expected to be shared by the FBI during the
visit of its team to India later this week.
After handing over preliminary affidavits and some
brief information, FBI had informed their Indian counterparts
that further information would be made available only after
further interrogation of US-born Headley and his
Pakistani-Canadian accomplice Tahawwur Rana.
The Indian security agencies had sought all the details
about Headley's links with Rahul, gym instructor Vilas Varak,
some diplomats and business personalities who were allegedly
misused by the terror suspect, sources privy to the
investigations said Monday.
Headley and Rana were arrested by the FBI from Chicago
last month for allegedly plotting terror strikes in Denmark
and India. However, Rana's advocate has denied the allegations
made against his client.
The National Investigation Agency (NIA), probing the
case, has already recorded statements of various people
including Varak during which he told the investigators about
various activities of Headley. The US terror suspect had
changed his name to Headley in 2006 from Daood Gilani to avoid
suspicion.

Indian investigators wanted to interrogate Headley and
Rana and a team from New Delhi had gone to the US earlier this
month. But the US did not give access because of the legal
compulsions.
India, through various channels, had asked FBI some of
the questions about Headley's association with Rahul Bhatt and
somebusinessmen based in Mumbai.
The visit of the FBI team comes after a high-level
meeting between Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and US
President Barak Obama in Washington last week.
National Security Adviser M K Narayanan had said
Sunday that the US President has told the Indian P0rime
Minister that he would be sending a high-level FBI team to
India within a week with "all details". PTI SKL
