Seoul stocks open higher on U.S. gains
SEOUL, Dec. 1 (Yonhap) -- South Korean stocks started 0.38 percent higher Tuesday, tracking overnight gains in the U.S., analysts said.
The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) rose 5.84 points to
1,561.44 in the first 15 minutes of trading.
Investor sentiment was lifted by firm endings on Wall Street Monday as fears the
Dubai debt crisis might spread into a global financial debacle receded.
The Dow Jones industrial average advanced 0.34 percent and the tech-heavy Nasdaq
gained 0.29 percent.
The local currency was trading at 1,161.25 won to the U.S. dollar, up 1.55 won
from Monday's close.
