Gilani says Indo-Pak peace can bring progress to subcontinent
Islamabad, Dec 1 (PTI) Pakistan Prime Minister Yousuf
Raza Gilani has said his country desired good relations with
India and resumption of the composite dialogue process which
can help bring progress and development to the sub-continent.
Gilani, who is in Berlin on an official visit, said
Pakistan desired good relations with India as he also stressed
for the resolution of the lingering Kashmir issue, APP said.
The start of the composite dialogue process between India
and Pakistan can bring peace, progress and development to the
sub-continent and help stem unemployment, poverty and
illiteracy, he said.
India had put the peace process on hold following the
Mumbai terror attack, demanding action by Pakistan against the
perpetrators.
Gilani, whose Army is fighting a raging Taliban
insurgency in Afghanistan, also claimed that Pakistan has
achieved a great deal of success in counter terrorism efforts
and now requires assistance in initiating development projects
in the cleared areas.
He sought Germany's assistance in infrastructure
development, and health and education facilities in the areas
now cleared from the militants so as to divert the people away
from the influence of extremists. PTI WAJ
