New car sales in South Korea may grow 2.2 pct in 2010
SEOUL, Dec. 2 (Yonhap) -- Sales of new cars in South Korea are expected to rise
2.2 percent next year from this year as the nation's economy seems on track for a
modest recovery, an industry group said Wednesday.
Hyundai Motor Co. and four other carmakers are predicted to sell 1.4 million cars
in South Korea, compared with an estimated sales of 1.37 million cars for this
year, the Korea Automobile Manufacturers Association said in a statement.
Auto exports are expected to grow 12.2 percent next year to 2.3 million vehicles,
helped by rising demand in emerging markets, according to the statement.
Accordingly, the nation's auto output is likely to grow 8.2 percent to 3.7
million vehicles next year, it said.
