Woman becomes Army's top prosecutor for first time

SEOUL, Dec. 2 (Yonhap) -- The Army said Wednesday a woman has been named its top
prosecutor for the first time in its 61-year-old history.
Col. Lee Eun-soo will assume her post on Dec. 14, becoming the highest female
investigator in the 655,000-strong South Korean military, the Army said in a
statement.
Only 20 of 525 military investigators are female, according to the Army. Lee is
one of 14 women working to safeguard Army regulations. She will oversee 56
investigation units, the Army said.
