Foreign land ownership inches down in Q3: report


SEOUL, Dec. 3 (Yonhap) -- Foreign land ownership in South Korea inched down in
the third quarter of this year from the previous three-month period, a report
showed Thursday.

According to the report by the Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs,
foreigners held a total of 215.5 square kilometers of land in South Korea at the
end of the third quarter, down 0.2 percent from the second quarter.
The total land ownership is equivalent to 35.7 percent of Seoul, the South Korean
capital, the report said.
Foreigners include foreign nationals, ethnic Koreans with foreign citizenships,
joint South Korean-foreign businesses and foreign-owned companies.
Ethnic Koreans with foreign citizenships owned the largest amount, amounting to
47.3 percent of the total, followed by joint ventures and foreign entities with
37.4 percent and 9.8 percent, respectively, the report showed.
