INDONESIA'S EXPORTS UP 20.27 PCT IN OCTOBER

Jakarta, Dec 2 (ANTARA) - The Central Board of Statistics (BPS) said Indonesia`s exports last October increased 20.27 percent to US$11.88 billion from the figure in the previous month.

"The values of Indonesia`s exports in October 2009 reached US$11.88 billion, which is the highest monthly export performance this year," BPS Chairman Rusman Heriawan said.

He said that the October export figure constituted the highest one along the year 2009, and it was the second highest achievement this year where exports hit the 10 billion dollar figure.

The BPS chief said that compared with the country`s export performance in October last year, last October`s figure rose 10.12 percent.

"This is for the first time October exports based on the year-on-year basis gained a positive growth, namely 10.12 percent," Heriawan said.

He said that Indonesia`s exports in the same period last year experienced a significant drop due to global financial economic crisis.

Non-oil and gas exports in October accounted or 10.16 billion, up 25.54 percent compared with that a month earlier. If compared with the figure in the same period in the previous year it rose 14 percent.

The accumulative values of Indonesia`s exports in the January-October 2009 period were recorded at US$92.03 billion, down 22.31 percent in the corresponding period a year earlier.

Non-oil and gas exports in the January - October 2009 period reached US$78.24 billion, which was lower than the September figure.

The October 2009 non oil and gas exports also showed the biggest monthly export performance of the year, he said. ***2***
