Doosan Infracore expects sharp rise in sale of excavators in China

SEOUL, Dec. 3 (Yonhap) -- Doosan Infracore Co., South Korea's leading
construction equipment maker, said Thursday that sales of excavators in China are
expected to rise sharply this year on rising demand.
In the first 11 months of the year, Doosan Infracore sold a total of 13,200
excavators in China. For the full year, the company expects its annual sales of
excavators in the country to reach over 14,000 units.
Doosan Infracore suffered a decline in sales last year as demand weakened in
China, its biggest overseas market that accounts for over 25 percent of Doosan
Infracore's total sales.
Doosan Infracore China Co. (DICC), the company's Chinese unit, operates a plant
in Yentai, northeastern China, that can churn out 17,500 excavators annually.
Separately, Doosan Infracore plans to set up diesel engine plants in China with
Xuzhou Construction Machinery Group Co. by 2013 which will produce up to 50,000
diesel engine units per year with displacements of 6 and 8 liters.
