Hynix CEO awarded for eco-friendly management
SEOUL, Dec. 3 (Yonhap) -- Hynix Semiconductor Inc., the world's second-largest
chipmaker, said Thursday its chief executive has been awarded for
environmentally-friendly management.
Kim Jong-kap, head of Hynix, won the "2009 Akira Inoue Award" for directing the
chipmaker's strong performance in the environment, health and security fields,
the company said.
The award was established by Semiconductor Equipment and Materials International
(SEMI), an industry association serving the manufacturing supply chains for the
microelectronic, display and photovoltaic industries.
"Despite many challenges in the semiconductor industry over the years, Hynix has
made efforts to continuously perform in environmental management," Stanley Myers,
president and CEO of SEMI, was quoted as saying.
SEMI recognized the company's efforts to develop eco-friendly products and work
environments, Hynix said.
"Hynix will further enhance its efforts on 'Environmental Management' and be
committed to working on this indispensable responsibility to protect the most
valuable environmental assets as well as playing a valuable role to contribute to
our industry," Kim said in a statement.
