Gyanendra to leave for India on Sunday

Kathmandu, Dec 3 (PTI) Nepal's dethroned King
Gyanendra Shah will embark on private trip to India on Sunday,
his aide said Thursday.
Shah is visiting India to attend a wedding function of
his cousin in India's eastern state of Orissa scheduled to
take place in the third week of December, Sagar Timilsina, the
private secretary of the former monarch, said.
He is expected to meet top leaders of the ruling and
opposition parties of India during his brief stay in the
national capital New Delhi, according to sources close to the
ex-monarch.
This will be the second visit to India by the former
King after he was dethroned on May 28, 2008.
He will also visit Rajasthan where he will meet his
relatives, sources said.
However, Timilsina has dismissed media reports that
Gyanendra will visit Europe after returning from India.
The former King had acquired a diplomatic passport
from the Foreign Ministry two weeks ago.
A row has erupted in Nepal amid reports that the
dethroned King Gyanendra is planing to visit Europe after the
former monarch acquired a passport for the first time last
week.
The critics had questioned the decision of the
Ministry to provide Gyanendra with the diplomatic passport.
