UAE President grants 500000 tonnes of wheat to Syrian people
ABU DHABI, June 3, 2008: President H.H Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan on Monday gave orders to dispatch 500000 tonnes of wheat as a grant to the Syrian people.
Sheikh Khalifa's grant to is a token of the strong brotherly ties and solidarity between the peoples of the United Arab Emirates and Syrian Arab Republic and is aimed at helping Syrians to cope with the rise of wheat prices on global markets.
The granted amounts of wheat will be procured from the international markets and will be directly shipped to Syria.
President H.H Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and visiting Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad discussed today venues of cooperation in various areas and explored joint Arab action after the recent Arab Summit in Damascus.
