FREE PASSPORTS FOR INDONESIAN MIGRANT WORKERS

Bogor, W Java, Dec 3 (ANTARA) - Justice and Human Rights Minister, Patrialis Akbar will issue free passports for Indonesian migrant workers (TKI) in their first application.

"The Law and Human Rights Ministry needs to make an innovative and creative breakthrough," Patrialis Akbar said at a Working Meeting of the Law and Human Rights Ministry in Puncak, Bogor, West Java on Thursday night.

The minister said his office has an obligation to provide free passports for first applications of migrant workers seeking for employment overseas.

Patrialis stated that the issuance of such free passports was not for seeking profit, but for assistance in the form of community service facilities, although the the state`s non-tax revenues had been declining.

Minister Patrialis said the measure is part of the 100-day program of the Law and Human Rights Ministry and its strategic plan for the next five years.
