Daewoo to build 2 wind power generation ships for German firm

SEOUL, Dec. 3 (Yonhap) -- Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering Co. said
Thursday that it has obtained an order to build two wind power generation ships
for a company in Germany.

The US$300 million deal calls for the world's second-biggest shipyard to build
the ships for RWEI, a German utility company, the Korean shipbuilder said in a
statement. The deal includes a condition that the German company can order
another such ship later, depending on market conditions.
Equipped with diverse equipment such as a large-scale crane, the ships will be
used to help construct facilities related to building maritime wind power
generation plants, Daewoo Shipbuilding added.
No time frame, including when the ships should be completed, was available.
