"The Prime Minister's visit laid the foundation for
further enhancing our relations with the US across a broad
spectrum of activities," Krishna said.

Singh invited Obama and India looks forward to receiving
him in the near future. "A warm welcome awaits him," he said.
"We (India and the US) also agreed that it was
particularly important to invigorate and strengthen high
technology trade between our countries," Krishna said.
He said Singh told Obama that India is in a position to
contribute to global economic recovery, combat poverty and
under-development and provide stability to a region plagued by
terrorism and violent extremism.
Singh and Obama underlined the interest of the two
countries in "stability, development and independence of
Afghanistan" and in the smashing of terrorist safe havens in
Pakistan and Afghanistan, the Indian External Affairs Minister
said.
The issue of Mumbai attacks was a priority in Singh's
discussions with Obama and both "underscored the absolute
imperative" to bring to justice the perpetrators of the
terrorist attack and the need for "resolute and credible steps
to be taken to eliminate safe havens and sanctuaries that
provide shelter to terrorists", he said.
The two sides agreed to create conditions to facilitate
expansion of their economies. In this context, opportunities
for US participation in the infrastructure, information and
communication technology, healthcare services, education
services, energy and environment-friendly technologies sectors
in India were highlighted.
They agreed to launch the US-India Financial and Economic
Partnership to strengthen engagement on economic, financial
