PRESIDENT TO DISCUSS FIRST-100-DAYS PROGRAM WITH GOVERNORS
Jakarta, Dec 4 (ANTARA) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono will invite all provincial governors to a meeting to discuss efforts to make the government's first-100-days program a success.
The president made his intention known at a plenary cabinet session here Friday.
In his opening remarks at the meeting, the head of state reiterated the importance of synergy and coordination between central government and regional governments to make the government's 100-day program a success.
"I will invite all governors next month to discuss with you the 100-day program and other programs for the next five years," the president told the ministers attending Friday's meeting.
On Thursday, December 3, 2009, President Yudhoyono attended the national working meeting of the All-Indonesia Provincial Administrations Association (APPSI) in Palangkaraya, Central Kalimantan.
The president said that at the meeting in Palangkaraya he got a lot of inputs from the governors about the smoothness and progress of the 100-day program.
But the issues which came up in the APPSI national meeting remained the same as those that emerged at the National Summit in October this year which was also attended by all provincial governors.
The issues discussed in the October National Summit were among others electricity, spatial planning, energy, and food.
President Yudhoyono said the success of the government's development programs at present needed coordination and synergy because with the decentralization system and regional autonomy, the provincial administrations would determine 60 percent of the development programs' success.
The head of state in his introduction also asked the cabinet ministers to publicize what had been achieved in the first 100-day program.
"I hope what you have done so far can be communicated to the public through the media," the president said.
In the cabinet plenary session on Friday the president discussed the progress of Presidential Working Unit for Development Control and Supervision (UKP4) to combat judicial mafias.
The president expressed hope that by December 9, 2009, the UKP4 would have arranged an integrated step for legal mafia eradication program and in two years it could reach the target which has been set.
In addition, President Yudhoyono also listened to explanations from related ministers to face the United Nations Conference on Climate Change in Copenhagen, Denmark on December 18-20 this year.
