HUTCHISON CP TELECOM TO INVEST RP10 TRILLION UNTIL 2010
Manado, N Sulawesi, Dec 4, (ANTARA) - Tri cellular phone operator PT Hutchison CP Telecommunication is planning to invest a total of US$1 billion in Indonesia up to next year, its commercial director said.
PT Hutchison CP Telecommunications' Commercial Director Suresh Reddy, said here on Friday the investment would be made to expand networks in a number of Indonesian provinces.
"Sulawesi and Kalimantan are two regions where we plan to do our network expansion up to next year," Suresh said.
He said that network quality would be a decisive factor for business success so that the company would increase the number of its Base Transceiver Stations (BTS) in a number of places.
Suresh said that up to now his company had built 7,600 BTS in 22 provinces with signals could be tuned in at about 3,000 subdistricts.
"Up to the third quarter of this year, we have recorded 7.3 million customers, leading this operator to the fourth biggest operator in Indonesia," he said.
The 7.3 million customers showed an increase by 13.6 percent if compared with the second quarter or by 100 percent with third quarter of 2008.
He said that besides network expansion, the other factor which boosted the rising number of its customers was innovative marketing programs such as free SMS.
Suresh said that his company had been recognized by the Indonesian Records Museum (MURI) as the cheapest SMS operator in Indonesia.
In Sulawesi, TRI will expand its networks to Tana Toraja, Gorontalo, Palu and Donggala next year, he said.***2***
