Tight security in Delhi for Babri anniversary

New Delhi, Dec 5 (PTI) Security has been tightened in
Indian national capital New Delhi ahead of the anniversary of
Babri Masjid demolition with various organisations planning to
hold meetings here Sunday.

Adequate police personnel have been deployed across the
city to ensure that no untoward incident take place, a senior
police official said.
"We have taken adequate precaution to ensure that the
day passes off peacefully. There are a number of programmes
organised by several outfits. We appeal to them to hold their
programmes peacefully," the official said.
While some 'Hindutva' groups are observing the day as
'Vijay Diwas', Muslim organisations are holding protests and
demanding punishment for those involved in the demolition of
the Babri Masjid in Ayodhya in India's northern state of Uttar
Pradesh on December six, 1992.
The All India Babri Masjid Re-building Committee has
organised a dharna at Jantar Mantar at around noon demanding
rebuilding of a mosque at Ayodhya. They will also submit a
memorandum to Indian President Pratibha Patil demanding action
against Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader L K Advani.
Another organisation Rashtravadi Sena will observe Sunday
as 'Vijay Diwas' (victory day). PTI SJY
